Working with local volunteers, support one refugee family/year with welcome upon arrival, accommodation, food, medical, shopping, government support, driving tuition, education support, friendship, cultural awareness.

We partner with Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia (Home – Community Refugee Sponsorship Australia), to deliver this program.

  • Overview

Two families have been successfully resettled since mid 2022.

Volunteers support the resettling family in all aspects of their journey in their adopted country.
Significant achievements to date include:
  • Supporting families with negotiations and documentation for government support applications
  • Medical appointments to bring their medical and dental health up to normal standard for Australians
  • Finding suitable accommodation for the families, including in tight local rental market
  • Furnishing their home
  • Providing initial cash for food, clothing and other essentials pending government support approval and provision
  • Enrolling children and adults into English language classes
  • Enrolling children into school, and organising uniforms and supplies
  • Teaching families how to use public transport
  • Teaching family members to drive and supporting them to pass their driving test and obtain their licence
  • Supporting tertiary education enrolments, and navigating Australian education and professional accreditation requirements
